Blowing new insulation on top of a dirty, compressed or rodent-soiled layer buries the problem. We vacuum it all out, clean the attic, sanitize it, and give you a clean slate.
Most South Florida attics built before 2005 are still carrying their original insulation. Twenty years of humidity, roof leaks, AC condensation, dust and — in a lot of homes — rats, raccoons or squirrels have turned it into a compressed mat that insulates poorly and holds odors, allergens and droppings right above your bedrooms.
Removal is the step everyone else wants to skip because it's the hard, dirty part of the job. It's also the step that determines whether your new insulation actually performs.
Floors, stairs and furniture covered from the hatch to the front door. Dust containment at the attic access.
Commercial insulation vacuum with a hose to the truck. Nothing travels through your living space in bags.
Debris, old wiring, nesting material and droppings removed by hand.
Rafters, joists and ceiling drywall HEPA-vacuumed, then treated with an HVAC-rated sanitizer. SDS provided.
With the attic bare we find every air leak, open chase and duct problem — and show you before anything goes back in.
Everything disposed of at our cost. The attic is ready for air sealing and new insulation, usually the same visit.
Every product is named on your quote and your contract. We don't substitute without your written approval. See everything we install.
Removal is priced by square footage and by what's up there. Clean, dry fiberglass is quick. Rodent-contaminated cellulose that has to be bagged by hand is not. The inspection tells us which one you have, and your written quote itemizes removal separately so you can see exactly what you're paying for.
If the existing layer is clean, dry and not compressed, topping it up is fine and we'll tell you so. If it's wet, flattened, moldy or has rodent activity in it, adding new insulation on top traps the contamination and the new layer settles into the old. Removal first is the only way to get the R-value you're paying for.
Most attics take half a day to a full day for removal alone. If we're air sealing and reinsulating the same day, plan on one to two days total.
No. The vacuum hose runs from the attic to our truck. Floors and furniture are covered, and we contain dust at the hatch. You'll see the crew, not the insulation.
We use a product formulated for HVAC systems and occupied homes, applied by respirator-equipped crew, and we provide the Safety Data Sheet before it's used. Normal occupancy can resume the same day.
We seal the entry points and remove the contamination. If there's an active infestation, extermination is a pest-control job — we'll coordinate timing with your exterminator so the attic doesn't get re-soiled.
Free inspection. Written report the same day. Three honest prices. Open 7 days.
